“Arg... Two tests and an essay due? In one day? I think the teachers are conspiring against me...”
With the school year's curtains drawing to a close and summer time's heavenly heat on its way, it was of littler surprise to anyone that the weather was starting to heat up. Olympus' temperatures were always pretty mild, yes, regardless of the season, but for those who really looked to find a difference in heat, it was most certainly there. Thin winter coats were being discarded in favor of thin spring jackets, or even just discarded altogether, and it hadn't rained in what seemed like an eternity. All in all, the weather was being decent to the citizens generally at its mercy, and a particular student who had to walk a fair distance home from school was grateful for Mother Nature cutting her some slack. The trek would have been much more frustrating in a heat wave, or a blizzard, or – heaven forbid – an alien invasion. Wait, that was weather related, wasn't it? … Yes, she decided. Yes, it was.
Natalie's school bag dangled by a single strapped in her hands, hitting her legs in a rhythmic fashion as she walked as awkwardly and obnoxiously as a high school girl possibly could. The attention she was drawing to herself went completely unnoticed; all she was worried about was how tedious it would having to walk home while creatures from another planet swarmed the skies, and how her shoes were really getting too small. Perhaps it was time to invest in a new pair. There was also the matter of grumbling about an abundance of schoolwork, most of which had been completed or studied for within the late hours of the previous night. As such, a passing grade on either test or essay wasn't exactly much to hope for, and fatigue dragged at her feet, blanketed in too-small shoes.
“Maybe I should come up with a study schedule,” he raven-haired mused to herself, brown eyes finally looking up from her feet and to the things surrounding her. Seeing as her house was located in the Munich District, it wasn't rare to find Oni sights in the Munich District on her way homeward. However, she couldn't ever recall passing by the cemetery – one of the most active Oni preying grounds – on her usual route. She must have taken a wrong turn while lost in thought. Er, again.
The monsters didn't tend to attack during the daylight hours, but it had happened before. And just because she knew they existed didn't mean she could see them until they were aggressed by an Oni Hunter or it was... well, already too late to do anything. Logic would inform her to get the heck out of dodge and fast, especially given that she was on her own and unarmed. Of course, since when did Nat ever listen to logic?
“I wonder if there are any Oni out today...?”
