Since there are battles, it's important that we have a battle system! For your sake and my sake, however, we're going to keep this as simple and understandable as we possibly can. The student – you – has certain stats that determine how much damage you do and take from the Oni – the mod – as well as how likely you are to dodge under certain conditions. Let's take a look at these stats, shall we? HEALTH – 50 Keep in mind that these are your starting stats, and they can be increased through battle. More on that later. For now, let's explore what each stat does. HEALTH Not much to talk about here. This is your health, which determines how long your character can keep fighting. When an opponent lands a hit, the damage is subtracted from your health. Make it out of the battle with one or more health points left, and you reap the spoils of war! If your health hits zero, however, your character will die. Permanently. Be mindful of how much you have left. STRENGTH As you have probably already guessed, strength is how powerful your character is in terms of attack. Your strength stat is the amount of damage you will do against an Oni. Literally. Oni have no diversity in defense stat, regardless of level, so if your strength is at it's base – five – you are guaranteed to do five damage upon landing a hit. DEFENSE While the name is pretty obvious – defense, your ability to take hits – how it works in battle is a little more complicated than strength. Different leveled Oni – levels one, two, and three – will do different amounts of damage based on their level. Your defense stat is subtracted from their set damage to decide how much damage you take. For example – say the Oni you're fighting does ten damage, and your defense stat is at it's base – five. The ten damage it does, subtracted from your five stat in defense, comes out as five. This is how much is subtracted from your health points. AGILITY You may be confused as to why this starts out at zero. This is because five was getting redundant! In all actuality, though, Oni have a pre-set accuracy rate depending on their levels, and an increase in your agility decreases their accuracy. If an Oni had 75% attack accuracy, adding one agility point with reduce that by five, making it 70% accuracy. It also makes you run faster in school sports, so have fun with that! ACCURACY Similarly to how Oni have set accuracy, they also have set agility stats. This is countered by your own accuracy stat. If the Oni you're fighting has a 25% percent chance to dodge when your accuracy stat is zero, bumping it up to one decreases that chance to only 20%. Cool, huh? Okay, so, now that we understand the base stats of your characters and what each of them do, what about the Oni we fight? And what's up with these “levels” I keep ranting about? This is to be explained here! Oni, with the exception of a defense stat and minor changes to their agility and accuracy, have the exact same stats as your character does. These change, however, depending on the rank of the Oni – level one, two, or three. Level one Oni are the weakest and share common stats. Level two Oni are stronger, and also share common stats. Level three Oni are the strongest and – you guessed it – share common stats. Different leveled Oni are found in different districts. Level ones are found in Copenhagen District, twos in London District, and threes in Munich District. Keep this in mind when posting your mod thread, so you don't post in the wrong spot and fight more than you can handle. So what are the stats of these Oni? LEVEL ONE STRENGTH – 10 LEVEL TWO STRENGTH – 15 LEVEL THREE STRENGTH – 20 These are their base stats, with percentages based on how they would fight you at your own base stats. For example, if your agility is at one, then a level three's accuracy would be decreased to 95%. Make sense? But Vanilla! Strawberry! How do we increase our stats? Simple! When you defeat an Oni, you get a certain number of stat increases depending on level! For beating a level one, you can increase one stat. Level two, two stat points. Level three, three stat points. You can customize your stats as you see fit, whether it be based on your character's preferences in battle or your own preferences in battle. How do the powers given to you during acceptance effect this? Unfortunately, stat-wise... they really don't. Powers really only effect how your character does damage, defends, or dodges in a battle thread, and what they do in interaction threads. Each posts allows the character fighting to hit twice. However, you are allowed to hit up to four times in one post, so long as you do not attack the next post. By attacking only once in a post, you can attack three times the next one without having to wait, and hitting three times in one post means that you're welcome to hit once in the following post. So your character's in a bit of a pickle and is about to get their butt handed to them. What do you do? It might not be the end of the road, my friend! More than one person can gang up on an Oni, whether it be to quicken the battle, or improve the chances of beating it at all! Thought, it is to be noted, that points awarded for killing the Oni are divided between the people who fought – such as halved if it was a joint effort between two people. Speaking of points – what's all there to gain from fighting these Oni? As has been mentioned in the plot, the more Oni you fight, the closer you are to gaining this “fabulous reward” - any wish your heart desires. But how does this work, exactly? Similar to how certain level Oni give a certain number of stat boosts, the number of points rewarded are... well, the exact same. Level one Oni, one point awarded. Level three Oni, three points awarded. Bi-weekly, the staff will tally the number of points raked in from battle. Whoever has the most points at the end of the two week period will earn a tally. Whoever gets to five tallies has their IC wish granted! After a wish has been granted – while that character can continue fighting Oni – they will win no more points for battles. To prevent a character from entering ten battle threads at once and getting ten points by the end of the two weeks, your character may be in a total of two battle threads at once. If you complete those two before the two weeks are over, you're welcome to start more. Unfinished battle threads will not count, but can count on the next battle period if completed within the designated time. If you have anymore questions about battles and the battle system, direct your questions toward Strawberry, please~! Thanks! |
