why be a king when you can be a god? |
"For one please.."
"For one?"
"..Yes."
Friday night, all the people were out of from either school or their nine to five shifts. The lady behind the glass covered shed-like stall, gave the young man an odd look. It was only natural since he's about to go see a chick flick by himself. Weird, right? To explain things, it's a sequel of a movie he wanted to see since he liked the first one a lot, which doesn't justify his action in terms of social norms, to make it worse, the title of the movie is called Struck Twice, even the name is too cheesy.
Gus a deep blue hoodie that's made out of soft fabric, and underneath is a plain black and white striped shirt. A pair of skinnies for his lower half, and his usual checkered sneakers. Just to make sure nobody can recognize him, he had a pair of sunglasses on which he wore inside the vicinity. When he finally got his ticket, he made his way to the snack bar and get a simple basket of fries then a soda. Now that he's all set and ready, he makes his way into the screening room.
The light was still on since the movie hasn't started yet. Gus still has a minute left to find his seat he picked. "9D.. 9D.." He turned his head to the left then right, seeing the room full of either a certain group of women or couples. Awkward. He started descending down the aisles of foldable chairs, looking down at the small glowing lights beside them that indicated which section they are supposed to be. He stopped on his track as soon as he saw the seats for the D section, squeezing himself in through the chairs and people who are already seated. By all of his luck, he managed to step on a foot just before he finally got to his seat. He didn't apologize, not yet. It took him a bit to realize that the person is right beside him, and that will definitely create a troublesome atmosphere later. When it hit him, he finally said "Sorry..".
Note: I kind of.. started this thread to see how the whole oni system works. Please be gentle with us.

I deally this was not how she wanted to spend her Friday night: stuck in the movies alone with a bunch of love-struck strangers, waiting for a movie she did not want to see come on. As the couple to her left began to have a playful and nauseatingly sweet popcorn fight over a shared armrest, Cade sighed and wondered if she could sneak away to one of the other theaters. She checked her cellphone for the umpteenth time and was disappointed that two hours had not magically passed by yet. The movie was her brother Kai's idea for her to kill time while she waited for him to be done with his shift at the small repair shop he worked at. Cade was certain that Kai was being malicious by forcing her into an uncomfortable social situation. He argued that any healthy teenage girl would want to go out on a Friday night and spend time at the mall, seeing a movie and shopping for shoes with friends. Cade was slightly flattered that her brother thought she was capable of making friends in the first place. She grudgingly bit the bullet and decided to see a movie, though now she regretted telling the person at the ticket booth “whatever won't make me want to shoot myself” when it came to letting them select the movie. Cade should have been more specific. Maybe if she had selected a slasher film, there wouldn't be so many annoying couples being loud and obnoxious and making her feel a pang of loneliness in her stomach. Cade sighed and took a sip of her soda. As the lights dimmed, someone shuffled past her and stepped on her foot. She winced and turned to glare at the person for a moment, only to recognize him from school. Cade just turned her eyes back to the screen and waited for the trailers when she noticed out of the corner of her eye that the boy was also locked in by another couple and that she was sitting right next to him. When he caught her gaze and opened his mouth, Cade didn't think he was going to apologize. At the same time he began to say 'sorry', she said, ”I'm not moving for your girlfrie-- oh.” She looked surprised at the apology, as if seeing a decent human being was something she hadn't experienced before. ”It's whatever.” She turned to look at the screen, and placed her arm on the arm rest that maybe should have been his. Then she glanced at him again, trying to remember his name. ”Aren't you... Gunther or something, from school?”

Realizing that she mistaken him to ask such a rude request, he couldn't help but skelly both of his eyes underneath his sunglasses which probably wasn't visible in this dark. Gus shrugged it off since doesn't necessarily affect him just yet, he adjusted his position and placed his soda in the usual polystrene container, in the holder found on the arm rests of the chair. It is then he would notice she's occupying both rests, which bugged him. Normally he's the type of guy to pull off something rude, but he was undercover. Even though he just placed his drink in the holder, he took it again and took a sip from the straw, letting his mouth engulf in the flavor of cold cola.
Something else is bothering him however, it's that odd sensation when it feels like you're being watched. It was coming straight out of his side, specifically the lady who's feet he just stepped on earlier. He tried his best to resist the urge of calling it out or turning to check, since he may be wrong after all, but when he heard he speak, he shifted his glance towards her again. She got his name wrong, but she was close. The jig is up. What was the give away? It's probably the white section of his bangs, there's really no other possibility. For once, Gus regrets going for his hoodie than one of his headwear. How should he react? The screen starts lighting up and starts playing these series of movie previews, normally he'd pay attention but he couldn't let her slip away with the whole act of butchering his name. The young man carefully placed his fries down on his lap, before removing his shades to finally show his face. It's time to deal with this like how he normally deals with everything else.
Now that his glasses were gone, he took a good look at her, he knows her face but he absolutely has no idea what her name is. Nevertheless, she looked attractive enough for him. He moved his hand on top of hers to pin it, accompanied with a series of light apitpat. He gave her his trademark smug look before going "Oh honey, I told you to stop calling me weird nicknames. It's Gus." His voice was loud enough to capture the attention of the people nearby, and they weren't really upset since the actual movie hasn't played yet. A rather perfect opportunity for Gus.

T he moment Cade asked the strange guy on her left his name was the same moment she realized she could care less what his name was. The lights dimmed and so she averted her eyes back to the screen. Cade didn't see Gus remove his shades, nor did she notice his hand inch closer to hers. When she felt his hand cover hers, she turned her head and looked from their joined hands back to his face in one slow and frigid motion. She didn't exactly look uncomfortable, nor did she seem shy. Rather, she was vaguely curious and kept glancing at his hand like it was an insect that she wasn't quite sure if she wanted to squash or not. Then he opened his mouth. Cade raised an eyebrow at him when he called her honey. Perhaps a good-looking guy holding her hand and calling her honey was supposed to make her feel some pang of heartfelt hormones fluttering in her stomach, but instead she just felt like punching him in the face. She settled for transforming the hand that he was patting into prickly cactus spikes, so when he brought his hand down he would quickly feel the sharp jab into his palms. The spikes couldn't go through his flesh; they were just there to tell him to be wary of where he kept his hands. ”Don't touch me, Gusher,” she said, not quite sure if she was butchering his name but certainly not giving a damn if she did. Her eyes were back on the screen, and that seemed to be that. Then a little light flickered in the corner of her mind. Suddenly she reached over, took one of his french fries, and leaned back into her seat. ”It's forty bucks if you want me to play pretend.” Her voice was quiet, and she was only joking. Sort of. She could use the money. ”Fifty if you want some P.D.A.” Cade popped the french fry into her mouth, her eyes still on the screen. Her body was leaned slightly toward him, so when he gave her an answer – which she assumed would be something along the lines of 'go to hell and die, bitch' – she would be able to hear it.

It seems that he's not as smooth as he thinks he is with her. Given, a part of his plan was to try and charm the woman and try to get laid but he knew there's only a very slim chance of doing so with that kind of stunt, so the overall reason he pulled it off is to try irritating her. In terms of bodily gestures and tone, it appears to Gus that it was quite effective, or so he thinks. The stinging pain made him instantly pull his hand back, out of reflex it was a little faster than a normal human reflex but he did his best to control his power. He always believed that keeping his identity on low profile that he's in the game can be used as an advantage. Gus shook his hand trying to get a good look at her hand. The young man wasn't entirely sure of what happened, but it's clear she has some sort of jig going on with her hand. He'd rather not pry.
What made the situation worse is that she started taking some of fries which was on his lap, at this point she was still in some sort of comfort in his eyes, especially with those weird offers for money. He had them, but what kind of guy she thinks he is? Gus believes that it's impossible to be desperate with good looks. There's only one thing to do and it only has two words, mission abort. He let her keep her arm rest then made sure that his fries settled on his hand from the opposite direction. "Yeah.. No.." Were the only words he said, before turning his attention up towards the screen, trying his best to ignore the situation. It's funny how he originally wanted the atmosphere to be normal, now it's just mega awkward. At this point, he can't seem to do anything about it. Gus just wants to relinquish his self isolation again.
